Sunny

He is renowned as the greatest opening batsman in the history of world cricket. He has the record of 34 Test centuries which was eventually broken by Sachin. He has played a total of 125 test matches with a total of 10,000+ runs with a batting average of 51.12 and a top score of 236. As far as the shorter version of the game is concerned he has played a total of 108 matches with 3092+ runs ,batting average of 35.13 and top score of 103. Gavaskar captained the Indian team from 1970 to 1980 though his performance as captain was like a roller coaster ride consisting of tremendous wins and tragic losses. Gavasker had some mind blowing techniques against fast bowlers. His ODI debut was 13july 1974 v England and his last test was v West Indies in 1987. Gavaskar was awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan award in 1994.
