Azhar was born in 1963 in Hyderabad. He is a Right-hand batsman by nature. He has scored three back to back centuries in the first three test matches of his career. He is the first ever player to have played more than 300 matches in ODI’s. With a average score of 45 runs, he has scored 22 centuries in longer version of the game. Azhar was one of the most promising captain Indian cricket team has ever had, he has 14 test win under his belt as captain. He made his one-day international debut against England at Bangalore in March 1985. Totally he has played 334 ODI’s, scoring 9378 runs with 7 centuries. He has appeared in four consecutive Cricket World Cup events. He is one of a spectacular fielders India has ever displayed. Mohammad Azharuddin was awarded the prestigious Arjuna Award in 1986.After the confession of former South African captain Hansie Cronje for match fixing revealing his name, a life ban for Azar from cricket, thus ending his dream run.
