Eden Gardens

Eden Gardens stands the second largest cricket stadium in the world with a maximum capacity of 90,000. The stadium is famous for it’s large crowd and the electrifying atmosphere. It is said that a cricketer's cricketing education is complete only after he plays in front of a packed Eden Gardens. The owner of the stadium is Indian Army while the operator is Cricket Association of Bengal. The first IPL match was played at Eden gardens on April 2008. Eden gardens has hosted several world cup matches some of them are mentioned below
1.)1987 World Cup Final (Australia v/s England )– Aus won the match.
2.)1996 Cricket World Cup (India Vs Srilanka ) – Srilanka declared as winner
At Eden Gardens VVS Laxman played a fabulous innings of 281 to win the test against Australia for India after following on. Harbhajan Singh took first hat-trick for India . Anil Kumble took 6 wickets for just 12 runs. Eden Gardens has two ends namely High court end and Pavilion End. The Cricket Association of Bengal decide to renovate the stadium the scope of work includes a new clubhouse and players' facilities, upgrading the exterior wall to give the stadium a new look.
